The American Planning Association (APA) is a professional organization representing the field of city and regional planning in the United States. The APA was formed in 1978 when two separate professional planning organizations, the American Institute of Planners and the American Society of Planning Officials, were merged into a single organization. The American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is now the organization's professional branch.
The APA - USC Chapter is the University of Southern California’s official American Planning Association-approved Planning Student Organization (PSO). Our mission is to provide undergraduate students with opportunities in exploring the planning profession and to connect students with practicing planners, architects, engineers, and environmental scientists through networking events, seminars, and field trips.
Although members are primarily undergraduate Policy, Planning and Development (PPD) students and Urban Studies and Planning (USP) students, membership is also available to students of related disciplines such as Architecture, Environmental Studies, and Civil Engineering, as well as to all graduate students within the Sol Price School of Public Policy.
